TWD; Choco-Nana Bread

TWD and Chocolate banana bread, hhmm, interesting flavor combination. I read the recipe several times before starting because each flavor is a solid background taste. Now combine them. I really did not know what to think. When in doubt, make little servings. I did make the whole recipe BUT I baked in small serving sizes: Mini-loaves and muffins. Easy to freeze because we are trying to cut down on goodies lying about; you know, the kind easy to snag on the way to where ever one of us is going.

Steph of Obsessed with Baking chose this week's recipe and I am proud of her for going out on a limb and picking a controversial taste twist for our Tuesday blogging social. At first taste, no one in our home could say if the bread was liked or not. The bread had a wonderful texture and aroma with a deep, dark chocolate color. After a further nibbling review, we did like it but not as a family favorite.

The recipe went together quickly and now we know what the two flavors together creates; banana-ie chocolate. Maybe if I had added crushed pecans or something. I think this recipe needs to be examined from the eyes of each TWD baker to see how the recipe was accepted and/or altered. I am so curious!

Sounds like how my family thought about the bread. I thought it baked up so nicely and smelled so good...but the flavor was just strange to me! Your bread looks so good and the pans are to cute!
Shandy, this sound really good, well done.

Your bread looks great!

My family thought the same thing- wasn't bad but wasn't the best. Oh well!

I was so worried about all the heat I would get for choosing this recipe. Isn't it weird how something a little different from the norm can bring up so many opinions?! Anyway, I'm so glad you took the challenge and baked along!

I felt the same way- trying to figure out if I liked it. Pulled another slice out of the freezer last night so I guess that's a good sign!

Your bread looks GREAT! Where did you get your pan? I am in the NW too, did you buy the pan locally or online?
Thanks!

Your bread looks great! I couldn't get past the smell of banana every time I cut a piece for the hubby. I should have made it without bananas!

All the minis are adorable! You summed it up well; it wasn't a favorite, but enjoyable. It's really too easy to just keep slicing off pieces from a quick bread, you were smart to stash them away.

Chocolate and Banana, great combination! Thank you for sharing this great post with us as I think this is really a great dessert. I think it would even go well with coffee made from my new keurig coffee maker . Can you give me an advise on the right temperature to set my oven in making this bread as I tend to burn my bread everytime I bake. I dont know if it is the oven or I just miscalculated the temperature. Great post!!

Your bread looks wonderful. Love the chocolatey color. Very inviting! Although I didn't make this recipe, I discovered I like choc + banana together, by accident I might add. I took my fav banana bars recipe and (while always playing around) subbed cocoa powder for some of the flour. I liked it :o)

I agree with your family's review completely - good but not a favorite. I made muffins and liked them enough to stash a few in my freezer for another day!
